Ethan visited his audiologist and developmental pediatrician at Children's yesterday and the news couldn't have been brighter. His implant showed all normal impedances, which means it's working the way it's meant to and all systems are go. We're not sure why the implant shorted out recently or if it will happen again, we're just very excited that it's all working normally right now. We are also moving forward with the process of making Ethan a candidate for a bilateral implant, meaning he would be getting his other ear implanted.

And there is more!

Ethan has been experiencing a real surge of development across the board in recent weeks. He is walking now! We never see him crawl anymore! His sign language is in full bloom and he is starting to make progress with speech as well. He is sleeping better and showing more interest in food.

All this and he's not yet even 2 years old!

We're happy.

YEAH!!!! I am so happy for Ethan and your family. This is wondeful news. What a roller coster of a year, and I am just thrilled that things are now going the way they should be. Heather, you can just tell, from the pictures and the posts, the he is making tons of progress. He is one determined little guy, with a very wonderful mommy (and daddy)with him every step of the way. This made my night. Have a great weekend. Give him an extra hug from me.

Wonderful news! So happy for you, Dad and Ethan.

Happy to hear about the bilateral decision. I hope that everything moves forward as you wish. We have seen nothing but positive effects to balance with two implants. Not scientific, but we're fans.

So great to hear he is walking. Now the fun begins - chasing him everywhere. It's funny how we wish for things and then sometimes want to go back! :)
